The City of Darlington has many active community groups and members, and several of these groups present scholarships to area youth.
The American Legion has two posts in Darlington. Post 13, based on SC 151, meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. The contact number for Post 13 is 843-250-1727. Post 210 is based at 147 Sparks St.
The Kalmia Garden Study Club does many projects in the City, including maintaining and improving the look of several gardens in town. The club's biggest project, the McCullough-Dargan Garden, can be seen from Pearl Street. Find the club on Facebook here.
The Darlington Branch of the NAACP meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at 109 Pearl St., Darlington. Find them on Facebook here.
The Darlington Lions Club meets at 7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at Darlington Country Club. This dedicated group collects eyeglasses to be recycled and distributed across the developing world. The club also offers assistance getting affordable eyeglasses. The largest of the City's civic organizations, the Darlington Kiwanis Club meets at 12:30 p.m. every other Thursday at the Darlington Country Club. Find them on Facebook here.
The Pilot Club of Darlington meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month at the Jewels Deluxe. In May and November, the club only meets the second Monday, and in December the club meets on the first Monday. This Club organizes the S.C. Sweet Potato Festival each year on the Public Square.
